Great Places to Visit - Guest Recommendations

Parkesdale Farm Market at 3702 W. Baker Street, Plant City. This was an unique, countrified, local farm market that is a huge tourist attraction amoung "older" folks. You might want to look it up on the internet. There were literally hundreds of cars there in the middle of a Friday afternoon with people lined out the door for their strawberry sundaes, shortcakes, milkshakes, ant other strawberry products. It also is a large fresh produce and plant center. It was very quaint; however, do not dress in anything fancy to go there.

The Bok tower was built for Mr. Edward William Bok around the 1920’s. It is surrounded by magnificent tranquil gardens designed by Frederick Law Olmsted Jnr., the son of the landscape designer of Central Park, New York.Events including musical evenings are held throughout the year. The perfect place for a picnic for those who wish for a day of more leisurely pursuits.

Of course there's much, much more going on in the area this month, so much so that we couldn't possibly cover it all! If you see something you think we should include let us know and we'll post it!

On Select Nights from February 11 to April 14

Visit Universal for the atmosphere of Mardi Gras as you watch the flamboyance of the parade as it makes it way through the park with spectacular floats, rainbow costumes, stilt walkers, street entertainers and dancers to delight all the family. Catch the beads, drink in the heady music and indulge in the best of Cajun cooking with Jambalaya, Adoulille Sausage, Shrimp Gumbo to challenge your taste buds.

Then if that is not enough go to CityWalk for the Mardi Gras After Party and carry on well into the early hours.

March is a very busy month.

More Fairs and festivals to visit including the annual Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival, Strawberry Festival, The Chocolate Festival - which is a must surely... and even a Festival for Motorbikes.

We have the Honda Grand Prix and The Arnold Palmer Invitational for those of a sporty disposition, a series of workshops in health and wellbeing for those of a more ethereal disposition and The Chocolate Festival for those of us who have given up hope of any disposition other than we just love chocolate. Mentioning it twice just shows the importance of this event in the March calendar.

New Year's Eve in Orlando 2010/2011

There is one thing that you can be sure of in life that when it comes to partying Orlando knows just what to do. This is one of the most exciting places on earth and yet again there are plans to see in the New Year in spectacular style.

This is just a quick run down of what is planned so far...

With Children

Old Town, Kissimmee Lots for the family to do. Rock n' Roll bands, rides and a fireworks show at Midnight.

Universal, Orlando So much will be happening as both parks are staying open to see in the New Year with special events planned for your evening.

SeaWorld More fun can be found at SeaWorld. Open until the small hours there will be special entertainment, more shows, music and great food!

Disney World: Downtown Disney, Hollywood Studios,Magic Kingdom and Epcot usually have DJ dance parties and multiple fireworks displays to see in the New Year. Disney Boardwalk is the venue for those wanting to dance the night away where all the bars and clubs will be open until 2 a.m.

Without Children

Universal City Walk - Rock in the year with great celebrations throughout all seven clubs, all you can eat gourmet food and guest star Brett Michaels performing for one great price. Enjoy your Midnight Champagne toast with a spectacular sight of a confetti burst over the whole of Universal's City Walk. For over 21's only.

Downtown Orlando usually hosts a "block" party with entertainment and outside dance areas. More information will be available closer to the time.

Hard Rock Cafe is hosting a party including studio musicians and vocalists performing The Best of Woodstock.

And the rest.... No end of clubs will be hosting their own private events and dinners and we will add more as they come to light over the next month or so, so please check again.

Babysitting Services.

As you can imagine, this time of the year is going to be hard to get anyone so if you would like to use a babysitter and enjoy some adult time, please let us know asap so we can arrange that for you.

The 5th Annual Orlando Magical Dining Month is a culinary celebration presented by the Orange County Convention & Visitors Bureau. During September 1-30 restaurants will feature three-course dinners at the amazing price of $30. Do come and feast on Orlando’s best cuisine at prices almost lower than a take-out and contribute to a great cause at the same time. This year, $1 of every Magical Dining Month dinner served will benefit the Arts & Cultural Alliance of Central Florida.
